Week 18 Recap: Upvotes Crossed 1,000, Every Pro Launch Shipped an MCP Server, and a New Account Did 150K on Day One

Your weekly roundup of fresh launches shaping how we work and build.

Week 18 put a number on the board that no week before it has. 228 products submitted, down from 245, 103 went live, up from 95, and 1,095 upvotes cast across the week 36 board, which held 15 featured launches. That is the first week over a thousand votes; the previous high was 996 back in week 16. The directory crossed 1,663 live products, 284 new builders joined, 280 new subscribers landed on this list, and domain rating ticked up to 74. Every landing page in this issue got a hand check before making the list.

The board story has two halves. Dante: AI Portraits took the top of the week with 29 upvotes and finished with nearly three times the votes of the next paid launch, on a landing page that is mostly a gallery and one promise. What it did differently is written up below. Right behind the paid section, Vectr4 took 15 on a free listing and beat every paid launch on the board except that one. Fifth week running that the top free launch out-voted most of the paid section. The other pattern is quieter: all three Pro launches this week, Alook, ExtensionDash and Alterable, ship an MCP server. Coding agents are becoming the customer, and builders are designing for them on day one.

Off the board, the account had its biggest week yet: 335,634 impressions across 64 posts, up from 212,258. The launch post for AI Agents Listing did 121,460 on its own, a new record for the account, and the brand new @nicklaunchesai↗ (opens in a new tab) account did 150,721 on its very first post. Both are written up below, because the mechanic is the same one as last issue and it keeps working.

Partner: Nick Launches is now listed on Flaex.ai, a database of AI tools with pricing, alternatives and reviews for each one. If you build with AI, it is worth a listing, and our page there is live.

Featured Launches 🚀

Three Pro launches ran on this week's board of fifteen, plus one of our own. Ordered as the week page has them, with each one's real board position, and every landing page checked by hand.

1. Alook: 11 upvotes, #3 on the board. Shared rooms where people and AI agents work side by side. Your local coding agents, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, get a persistent identity, a handle, an inbox and channel memberships, so your team can address them in servers, channels and DMs the same way they would reach a person, while the agents keep running on your own machine. Open source under Apache-2.0, and you bring the AI subscription you already pay for. The top Pro launch of the week, and there is more on it in Worth your time below.
2. ExtensionDash: 10 upvotes, #5 on the board. Browser extension analytics served to your coding agent over MCP: daily keyword rankings, installs, ratings, competitor data and listing changes from the Chrome Web Store and Firefox Add-ons. No store credentials and no source code access needed, you ask your agent how the extension is doing and it answers. The beta is free with no card required.
3. Alterable: 9 upvotes, #6 on the board. Email images rendered at the moment each subscriber opens the message. A countdown that ticks in real time, a hero that swaps on device, location, weather or time of day, a map of the nearest store, a scratch-and-win card or a one-click survey, all from one line of HTML pasted into Mailchimp, Klaviyo, HubSpot, Brevo or any platform that lets you edit HTML. Zapier, Make, an API, and an MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT. Free tier, no code.
4. AI Agents Listing: 2 upvotes, #14 on the board. Full disclosure: this one is ours. A directory of the agentic stack in three layers, AI agents that do real work, MCP servers that connect them to your tools, and agent skills that extend what they can do. Every listing gets an indexable page, and pages link across the layers, so an agent shows the MCP servers it works with and the skills that extend it. Listing is free; paid upgrades buy a do-follow link and featured placement.

Launch Weekly Winners 🏆

The most upvoted free launches of the week. No paid placement here, just upvotes, and the top of this section beat twelve of the thirteen paid launches on the board.

1. Vectr4: 15 upvotes, ahead of every paid launch but one. Self-hosted product analytics for indie hackers and small SaaS teams. Track events, funnels, sessions and user journeys on your own VPS, so customer data never leaves your box and the bill never grows with event volume. €79 one-time, with a year of updates included.
2. JD2CV: 14 upvotes. A free AI resume builder and ATS checker. Paste the job description, get a resume restructured around the keywords it is actually screening for, and watch the match score move. Ten free credits on signup, credit packs after that, no subscription.
3. Walyro: 14 upvotes. Your own videos as live wallpapers for Mac. Drop in an MP4 or MOV, up to 4K, a different clip on each display, playlists that rotate on their own, controls in the menu bar. Native Swift, not Electron, so it pauses on fullscreen and eases off on battery. No cloud, no account, one-time unlock.
4. Nuntly: 13 upvotes. A developer-first email platform: send, receive and reply over a REST API or SMTP, with named inboxes, thread grouping, real-time webhooks and hooks for AI agents. Data stays in the EU. 3,000 emails a month free, no card required.
5. BrandPresence: 11 upvotes. Shows where your brand appears across OpenAI, Perplexity and Gemini, and which competitors appear instead. Run the buyer questions that matter, inspect citations and recurring sources, keep the raw answer evidence behind every result, and re-run to see what changed. Read-only MCP access for digging in from your assistant.
6. Christine: 10 upvotes. Answers every Instagram DM in seconds, day or night, at your prices. Quotes, books the slot and follows up, for salons, repair shops, lawyers and tour operators who lose bookings to unanswered messages at 2am. Seven days free.
7. brandlogo: 10 upvotes. A curated collection of exceptional logos to study before you design your own. No AI generator, no templates, just a well-kept gallery of what good looks like.

Launch Builders to Watch 👀

Builders who made this week what it was. Worth a follow.

• Floro (@sflorimm↗ (opens in a new tab)): Dante: AI Portraits, 29 upvotes and the top of the entire board, nearly three times the next paid launch. A one-line pitch, a gallery, and a promise most image tools would not make.
• Bepitic (@bepi_tic↗ (opens in a new tab)): Vectr4, 15 upvotes on a free listing for self-hosted analytics you buy once. Beat twelve paid launches without paying for a slot.
• Matthieu Fauveau (@alterableco↗ (opens in a new tab)): Alterable, email images that render at open time, with an MCP server so your assistant can build them. A Pro launch that treats agents as a channel, not a feature.
• Anton Kopylov (ExtensionDash): shipped extension analytics as an MCP server first and a dashboard second. Free beta, no credentials required, and a clear read on where developer tools are heading.
• Olivier Bazoud (@nuntly_com↗ (opens in a new tab)): Nuntly, an EU-hosted email API with a real free tier, 13 upvotes on a free listing in a category full of incumbents.
• Gergo Balkus (@brandpresenceai↗ (opens in a new tab)): BrandPresence, 11 upvotes for a tool that shows which competitor the AI answer named instead of you. Uncomfortable data, which is why it is useful.

Worth your time 🔎

Alook↗ (opens in a new tab) is this week's top Pro launch, and it earns the spotlight for the shape of the idea rather than any single feature. Every coding agent you run today is a private conversation: it lives in your terminal, it forgets when the window closes, and nobody else on the team can talk to it. Alook gives those agents a handle, an inbox and a seat in a shared room, so a teammate can DM your Claude Code the way they would DM you, while the agent keeps running on your machine with the subscription you already pay for. Discord for people and agents is the closest description, and it is close enough.

It is open source under Apache-2.0, it works with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode and Pi, and there is no extra AI bill for using it. Take a look↗ (opens in a new tab), and if you already run more than one agent, put them in a room together and see what they say to each other.

What the top of the board did differently 🥇

Fifteen featured launches ran this week, and one of them finished with nearly three times the votes of any other paid launch. Dante: AI Portraits took 29 upvotes; the next paid launch had 11. The gap is not explained by category, AI image tools are the most crowded shelf on the directory, and it is not explained by placement, since every featured launch gets the same slot. It is explained by the page.

Three things Dante did that most launches this week did not. The pitch is one line, "AI portraits so good they don't look AI", and it is the first thing you read. The landing page opens on a gallery of results instead of a paragraph about the model, so the proof arrives before the claim. And there is a concrete promise most image tools would never make: if your generation is not ready in 180 seconds, the credits come back automatically. That single sentence answers the question every buyer of an AI image tool actually has, which is whether it will eat their money and stall.

Then look at the next line down. Vectr4 launched the same Monday on a free listing and took 15, more than every paid launch except Dante, with the same shape: one line about who it is for, a price you can read without a calculator, and a reason to trust it, which in Vectr4's case is that the data never leaves your server. Between them those two beat the entire rest of the board. Placement gets you seen on day one. The page, the promise and the timing do the rest.

A new account, 150,000 impressions on day one 📣

Last issue's lesson was to post about the problem instead of the product. This week I ran it on my own launch, twice, and it produced the two biggest posts this account has ever been near.

AI Agents Listing went live on Saturday morning at midnight Pacific. The launch post on this account did not mention the product until the last line. It opened with the problem: if you shipped an AI agent this year, good luck getting it found, because agent directories skip MCP servers, MCP registries skip agents, and skills are scattered across all of them. That post did 121,460 impressions, against a previous record of 98,496. The same morning, a brand new account, @nicklaunchesai↗ (opens in a new tab), published its first post ever: 81,811 MCP servers in one registry, 3,004 skills in another, nobody can read all that, here is what to check before you commit to an agent. 150,721 impressions on an account with no followers and no history. The first paid listing on the new directory came in 39 minutes after launch.

Now put that next to the board. On Nick Launches the same product sits at #14 with 2 upvotes. Same week, same product, same builder. The board rewards a page that builders click on and vote for; the feed rewards a sentence that describes the reader's own problem. They are different games, and the second one is much bigger than most builders assume. If your launch post starts with your product's name, try starting with the thing that annoyed you into building it.

New Features This Week ⚡

• Dead links get caught now. Every listed URL is probed on a schedule; sites that stop responding are flagged, confirmed a second time a week later, and then hidden from the directory with the link switched to nofollow. Every do-follow link on this site should point at a site that actually loads.
• Badge verification for JavaScript-only sites. If your "Featured on Nick Launches" badge lives inside a client-rendered app, the verifier now falls back to a headless crawl instead of failing the check.
• Sidebar sold out, so a fourth slot opened. All three sponsor slots on the directory are taken; the fourth is priced at $149 a month for new advertisers. Early sponsors keep the price they bought at.
• Free launch cap raised to 80 a week, up from 70.
• Images moved to a CDN. Logos and screenshots are optimized on upload and served from cdn.nicklaunches.com.
• A new guide on the blog. Why startup directories still matter for SaaS growth. The where to launch guide also picked up PeerPush.

Quick ask 🙏

Fifteen launches on the board and 1,095 upvotes cast this week, the first time past a thousand. Vectr4 proved the point again: 15 upvotes on a free listing beat all but one paid slot. The median launch still finished on single digits, which means five upvotes genuinely moved things. If something in this issue deserves eyes, open its page and upvote it. Ten seconds, real difference.
