Privacy
How Nick Launches collects, uses, shares, and protects information for accounts, launch submissions, the directory submission service, payments, newsletters, and platform security.
Who we are
Nick Launches is a product launch directory and newsletter for builders. Contact us at support@nicklaunches.com for privacy requests or questions.
Information we collect
- Account data such as your name, email address, avatar, OAuth provider profile data, and session records.
- Launch submission data such as product name, tagline, description, URL, categories, pricing, media URLs, social links, launch date preferences, comments, upvotes, and review status.
- Directory submission service data such as the product URL, name, tagline, logo, category, contact email, and any additional details you provide at or after checkout so we can submit your product to third-party directories on your behalf.
- Directory tracker data such as the per-directory status (to do, done, or skipped) you set for each of your products in the launch-directories tracker, on the site or through the browser extension, with timestamps.
- Payment and transaction metadata for premium launches and the directory submission service, including Stripe checkout/session identifiers, payment status, payment intent identifiers, plan or tier, amount paid, refund or dispute status, and timestamps. We do not store full card numbers.
- Newsletter and email data such as subscription type, digest preferences, unsubscribe status, delivery metadata, and support messages you send us.
- Technical and anti-abuse data such as IP-derived request context, browser/device information, BotID checks, upload metadata, rate-limit counters, logs, and security diagnostics.
- AI prefill data when you ask us to analyze a product URL, including fetched public page content, extracted metadata, cache keys, and generated suggestions.
How we use information
- To create accounts, authenticate users, and keep sessions secure.
- To accept, review, schedule, publish, rank, and moderate product submissions.
- To process premium launch and directory submission service payments, confirm paid orders, handle refunds or disputes, and keep payment records.
- To deliver the directory submission service, including selecting third-party directories, submitting your product to those directories on your behalf, tracking results, and sending you a report.
- To send transactional emails, launch reminders, newsletters, digests, admin alerts, and unsubscribe confirmations.
- To operate uploads, AI prefill, duplicate detection, badge checks, search, analytics, spam prevention, and platform security.
- To respond to support, enforce our terms, comply with legal obligations, and improve the service.
Public content
Submitted products, product pages, logos, screenshots, websites, categories, upvotes, comments, maker-facing launch details, and similar content may become public after review. Do not submit confidential information or content you are not authorized to share.
Payments
Premium launch and directory submission service payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe handles card and payment method details under its own privacy and security practices. Nick Launches stores only the transaction metadata needed to confirm payment, provide support, prevent duplicate charges, handle refunds or disputes, and maintain business records.
Service providers
We use service providers to run the platform, including hosting, database, authentication, email, file storage, payment processing, AI prefill, spam prevention, and admin notifications. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to us. We do not sell personal information.
Third-party directories
If you purchase the directory submission service, you instruct us to submit your product information to third-party directory websites on your behalf. The information you provide for submissions (such as product name, URL, description, logo, category, and contact email) will be sent to and published on those third-party directories under their own terms and privacy practices. We do not control how third-party directories handle the information once submitted.
Browser extension
- NL Launch Companion, our optional browser extension, signs no one in itself: it uses your existing nicklaunches.com session to read your own product information (name, tagline, description, URL, logo, screenshots) and your directory tracker statuses.
- The extension stores the public directory catalog and that product and status data in your browser's local extension storage as short-lived caches so its panel and popup load quickly. This data stays on your device and is not shared with anyone else.
- When you mark a directory as done or skipped in the extension, that status is saved to your Nick Launches account, the same as clicking it on the site. This sync is the only data the extension sends to us.
- When you use autofill or the copy buttons on a directory's submission form, your product information is entered into that third-party website at your direction and is then governed by that directory's own terms and privacy practices.
- The extension's content script stays inactive on websites that are not in the directory catalog: it injects no interface, reads no page content, and collects nothing. The extension contains no analytics, no ads, and no tracking, and we do not sell or share data collected through it.
Email choices
When you create an account you are automatically subscribed to our general newsletter, which includes product updates, launch tips, and digests. Every marketing or digest email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time at /unsubscribe/. Transactional emails about your account, submission, payment, approval, rejection, refund, or security may still be sent when needed to operate the service.
Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain public listings, process payments, resolve disputes, enforce terms, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. Some public launch content or transaction records may be retained even after an account or newsletter subscription is removed.
Your rights
You can request access, correction, deletion, or export of personal information by contacting support@nicklaunches.com. We may need to verify your identity and may retain records where required for legal, security, payment, or abuse-prevention reasons.
Children
Nick Launches is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy as the platform changes. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
